Hinton and Thomson in PaidContent

Interesting, discursive conversation between Staci Kramer, Robert Thomson and Les Hinton. Recognisably talking about newspapers as something desirable and aspirational, which I find refreshing.

You can bundle content, you can parcel content. Obviously, app culture is very different. What we have is specialization. Apps themselves are built around specialization so we, frankly, in the short, medium and long-term have to be more creative about how we parcel content in a way that is reflective of what people are interested in. What we have to do is make sure we have the best quality content anywhere in the world. That’s the task that Les and Rupert have set for us and as long as we do that, we’ll be able … to create things that are suitable for weekends. Readers are interested in wine and Jay McInerney who now does a wine column for us.
